Keep in mind that the Tracer's purpose is not to reproduce an exact duplicate of the original image nor is it intended to produce a final product. In the future we expect to allow alternate tracing programs for now, however, this fine tool is more than sufficient for our needs. If someone can figure out what else could constitute evidence I would like to hear it!įirst things first: it is important to RTFM (to all the kiddies out there, pardon my french). Not that I would be able to produce such art, but that somehow it could be produced by someone connected to this project, because I suck.Įvidence for this would include such things as finding an inkscape image in a gallery that looks something like the source images used below, or by being able to reasonably import existing bitmaps into inkscape. Being able to reproduce this art reasonably in inkscape would be the minimum requirement for investing time in inkscape as a tool. I then decided to determine what the best possible inkscape files that could possibly be produced from the egoboo source art. I found the images produced to be not very good with many flaws, including gaps between the various bands that potrace produced to simulate the image. I have previously experimented with this for hours on relatively simple images (the banner at the top of this page) and looked at the inkscape documentation extensively.
I wanted to log some of my experiments with using the inkscape's "Trace Bitmap." function for converting bitmaps to line drawings.
